About the tour

Eyjafjallajökull Super Jeep Tour – A Glacier Volcano Adventure

The Eyjafjallajökull Super Jeep Tour is one of our favorite adventures in Iceland. Not only does it take you into a remote volcanic landscape, but it also offers breathtaking views of glaciers.

Eyjafjallajökull became world-famous during the 2010 eruption. At that time, a large ash cloud spread across Europe, disrupting air travel for several days. Today, however, the area is peaceful and incredibly beautiful.

During this tour, you explore the glacier volcano in a specially modified Super Jeep. These vehicles are built for Iceland’s rugged terrain. As a result, they can safely travel across snow, ice, and rough mountain roads.

While driving up the glacier slopes, you will enjoy incredible panoramic views. For example, you can see the vast black sand plains, lava fields, and the dramatic south coast. On clear days, you may even spot the Westman Islands rising from the Atlantic Ocean.

Walk on the Eyjafjallajökull Glacier

Once we reach the glacier, we stop for a short break. This allows you to step out and experience the ice up close.

You will take a short walk on the glacier itself. This moment often becomes the highlight of the tour. After all, standing on a glacier volcano is a rare experience.

Meanwhile, your guide shares fascinating stories about the landscape. You will learn how volcanic eruptions and glaciers have shaped Iceland over thousands of years.

In addition, the area offers fantastic photo opportunities. The contrast between snow, ice, and dark volcanic rock creates a truly unique scenery.

Discover the Aftermath of the 2010 Eruption

The tour also explores areas affected by the 2010 eruption. During that event, massive floods of melted glacier water rushed down the mountain.

Consequently, powerful glacial rivers carved deep canyons through the landscape. Even today, you can still see the dramatic results of those forces.

Along the way, we may visit nearby highlights. For instance, stops can include Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss, two of Iceland’s most famous waterfalls. Additionally, we may explore the beautiful coastal areas surrounding the volcano.

A True Iceland Volcano Adventure

This experience is much more than a sightseeing trip. Instead, it is a true Icelandic volcano safari.

You will explore glaciers, volcanoes, waterfalls, and rugged highland landscapes. At the same time, you travel in comfort with an expert local guide.

So, are you ready to experience Iceland’s wild side?

Book your Eyjafjallajökull Super Jeep Tour today and step into the land of fire and ice.
